Dunedin Cares PB&J Challenge…and More for April!

PB & J Challenge

Through April 30

Calling All: SCHOOLS • CHURCHES • TEAMS • CIVIC GROUPS • LOCAL BUSINESSES • HOAs

Summer vacation increases the financial hardship on families who need to provide breakfast and lunch for their children.

Summer also represents the pantry’s slowest donation months, and our guests’ visits are up 200% from last year! This concern means ALL food donations are needed, and PB&J is just the beginning.

We are 100% dependent on incoming donations all year. Monetary contributions can be made on our website – include team name! $1 = 1 lb.!

A sample of what we need: Any Non-Perishable, Lunch Items, Snack Items, Pancake Mix / Syrup, Sugar, Cooking Oil, Canned Pasta Sauce, Condiments, Paper towels, Canned Fruit & Fruit Cups

Easy-open packaging/plastic containers are always appreciated! No bulk containers, please!

HOME Coffee with a Counselor Nov. 15

House of Mercy and Encouragement is hosting Coffee with a Counselor November 15, 6:30 to 8:00 pm, at Our Lady of Lourdes DuboisCenter, Room B. The November topic is “Holiday Expectations vs Reality: Handling Our Emotions.”

This month we will focus on how fragile our emotions are during the holidays. From children being overly excited to those who are grieving and lonely, emotions run high during the holidays. The result may be  anger, disappointment, sadness, anxiety,

depression, or  any other number of emotions. Is Christmas really as joyous as everyone portrays it to be? If so, why do suicide rates, addiction, domestic violence, anger, school detentions and suspensions climb this time of year?

Come and find out how closely linked faith, spirituality, and emotions are especially this time of year.

Refreshments served. Open to all. Bring a friend!

Facilitator: Dolores Mortimer is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor, National Certified Counselor and has provided services to children and families for over 25 years. She is the founder and director of the House Of Mercy and Encouragement, a non-profit counseling and education center for adults, children, and families.
